Herrick Roman

Herrick Roman is a revival of an alphabet drawn by the designer and poster artist F.C. Herrick for the Wembley Exhibition of 1924. The alphabet was never cut as a font, but was simply drawn for the use of hand letterers and signwriters at the Exhibition. The digitized version attempts to capture this hand drawn aspect of the original.

In reproducing this alphabet, meticulous drawing and redrawing by hand finally gave way to digitizing high quality scans - a painstaking process in itself. The alphabet has been fully spaced and kerned, and has punctuation marks added to the original.
